Transitions to Teaching offers students the opportunity to connect with one another and with faculty/advisors through a variety of activities including formal events, small-group meetups, and informal drop-in sessions.

Why We Choose to Teach | April 17th, 2019
This was an opportunity for students to shared reflections on what they are learning about elementary teacher education. We had teacher education students from other campuses join us as well.

We invited current teachers to speak at a panel about their day-to-day experiences teaching in NYC public schools.
Advisement Marathon| March 20th, 2019
Students were able to sign up for a one-on-one meeting with an advisor to plan their academic program and talk with other students about how they are meeting the elementary education program course requirements
Everything You Need to do to Enter the Elementary Teaching Program Part II : Completing the liberal arts requirements | March 7th, 2019
This was an info session for students to learn detailed information about the liberal arts coursework requirements for the elementary education program at Queens College. Students were able to get tips from advisors and students currently in the program about scheduling their coursework to fulfill the requirements.

Students currently in the elementary education program, faculty and advisers shared their interest in elementary teaching with Transitions to Teaching students.

Notes from the Field | November 27th, 2018
Working in small groups, students shared memories of good teachers and discussed what made these teachers special. Principal Vincent Gatto, a Queens College graduate, talked with students about what it takes to be an effective teacher in the New York City public schools.
Everything You Need to Know to Get Into the Undergraduate Elementary Teaching Program – Part 1 | November 14th, 2018
Students worked in small groups to state questions and concerns about the Queens College undergraduate elementary teacher education program. Dr. Line Saint-Hilaire Augustin, the coordinator of the program, addressed these concerns and gave an overview of program requirements and procedures.
Kickoff Event | October 10th, 2018
Students, faculty, and advisors shared their ideas about teaching. For students, this was an important step in becoming a member of the teacher education community at Queens College. 97% of the students who attended reported that participating in the activities made them feel more a part of the community.
