The Department of Physics at Queens College welcomes students to a rigorous academic and research environment. We offer a range of opportunities for learning physics and a B.A., B.Sc., and M.A. in physics and a B.A. in Applied Physics. The Pre-engineering degree program allows students to automatically transfer to Columbia University after completing the physics major requirements with a 3.3 GPA. The Professional Masters in Photonics degree provides advanced technical training to students interested in careers in the rapidly developing photonics industry.
The department faculty is composed of renowned research-active physicists representing the City University of New York’s cluster expertise in photonics research. We maintain the department’s strong physics tradition by advancing the frontiers of knowledge of random, nano- and micro- structures and films, metamaterials, and biophysics. Many of our alumni have gone on to become dedicated faculty and researchers at other institutions.
