Welcome to the First Year Experience!

 

First Year Experience guides incoming students, both freshmen and transfers, through programming and peer mentorship to support them in developing community and finding their academic paths during their first year at Queens College.

The FYE Office will be closed for the Winter Holidays starting Monday, December 23rd. We will reopen on January 6th, 2025!

Peer Mentorship

Peer Mentors are available in our office, Honors Hall Room 5, to support freshman and transfer students. Talk to a mentor Monday-Thursday from 11AM-3PM during the Spring 2025 semester to have any of your questions answered. No appointment necessary!

Get to Know QC With FYE is a series of workshops offered for first-year freshmen and transfer students designed to cover the information needed to succeed at Queens College.

How We Support Student Success

  •  Facilitate a wide variety of programming introducing students to resources available at the college during the first two weeks of the semester
  •  Provide one-to-one peer mentorship during office hours where students receive support in time management, study skills and navigating different majors
  • Offer workshops related to developing college success skills, inviting faculty for guest lectures and exploring different career paths through project-based learning

All first-year students are welcome to visit the FYE office in Honors Hall 05 Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM to ask questions, meet with an FYE Peer Mentor or use the quiet study space, computer lab and printing.
