MAKING A DIFFERENCE

It is through the support of generous alumni and friends that student scholarships, endowment growth, facilities upgrades, and other special projects and programs are made possible.

If Queens College is a public institution, why does it need private donations?

The State of New York provides only part of the Queens College’s annual operating budget. Private gifts allow Queens College to attract and retain best and brightest faculty, build first-class facilities, continue quality education and research programs, and provide scholarships to deserving student.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

The Queens College Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All gifts to the Foundation are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. You should consult with your tax attorney/advisor concerning the deductibility of your gift.

Do small gifts really make a difference?

A little goes a long way at Queens College. When you make a gift to the College, you join thousands of alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty, and staff who support the Fund for Queens College each year. All of those gifts add up to make a big difference at your alma mater.

Can I direct my gift to an area important to me?

Yes. We encourage our alumni and friends to make contributions to the Fund for Queens College, which addresses the greatest needs at Queens College. However, you can designate your contribution to an academic department or division, the Queens College Library, a student club, or any officially recognized area of the College. You can support what matters most to you while making a difference in the life of a student.

Can I give an anonymous gift?

Yes, donors often choose to remain anonymous. Queens College always respects a donor’s stated wish for privacy.

Why is alumni participation important?

Alumni participation is important because:

  • It builds pride in our College and enhances the value of your degree.
  • It elevates Queens College’s reputation. Publications such as U.S. News & World Report use the alumni participation rate when calculating rankings. Queens College’s ranking is consistently in the top 50 of all public national universities.
  • Granting agencies take this rate into consideration when making funding decisions.
Can my employer match my gift?

Yes. Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match, double or triple charitable contributions by their employees. Employee spouses and retirees are often eligible as well. If your company matches, request the appropriate forms from the company’s Department of Human Resources and mail it with your donations, or process the matching gift request online. Please use the Queens College Foundation Tax ID number 11-6080521.
