Student Teaching - Internships - Practica
The office of Professional Practice & Community Partnerships and Field Placement Office work continuously to support professional experiences where all of our EPP student teachers/interns can thrive under the wings of exceptional classroom teachers or site supervisors, deepen their understanding of their own aptitudes and talents, and help clarify the type of professional careers they want to pursue.
Whether you are starting your student teaching, internship, or practica experience or are ready to explore your professional career, we hope you will find the information and contacts below helpful.
Fingerprinting for Student Teaching
All candidates must start the fingerprinting process with the New York City Department of Education (NYC DOE) as soon as they are accepted into any of the Teacher Preparation Programs. All candidates must have received fingerprinting clearance before being registered for student teaching, internship, or practicum. The process of obtaining NYC DOE fingerprinting clearance could take up to two months. Candidates are encouraged to start the process of fingerprinting by contacting the Field Placement Office.
Program Requirements for Student Teaching
Student teaching requirements may vary across Queens College Teacher Preparation Programs. Click here for more information about your program’s student teaching requirements.
Financial Aid for Student Teachers/Interns
The Professional Practice and Community Partnerships Office works with other Queens College and CUNY offices to provide its EPP students with information on scholarships, grants, loans, and stipends that are available to student teachers/interns. We hope that such opportunities will help bridge the gap between the cost of college and the contributions student teachers/interns and their families are expected to provide. Career Resources
Queens College’s School of Education (SOE) as an Educator Preparation Provider (EPP) is committed to providing all students and alumni with the resources and opportunities needed to support the pursuit of their post-graduate goals.
Our students and alumni have access to numerous professional and educational resources that include job postings from our partner schools and organizations, and access to NYC Department of Education info sessions and teacher applications, networking events, and others.
Our students also have access to a series of Career Resources events titled, Next Steps into Teaching, which include panel presentations, workshops, as well as recruitment opportunities. Click here to learn about Next Steps into Teaching events.
