Queens College Short-Term Programs: Summer/Winter

APPLICATION STEPS:

(More detailed info. will be emailed to you after submitting the Google Form below)

  1. Fill out the Interest Form on the Summer page to express an interest in a Summer Program
  • This is not the Study Abroad application.

 

  1. After submitting this form, you will automatically receive our PDF Study Abroad Application via email.
  • Read automatic reply email carefully & complete our PDF application

You will not be considered for Study Abroad until you: 

1. Complete our PDF Application linked in the AutoReply Email

2. Upload the PDF Application to the Microsoft Form linked in the AutoReply Email

*Please be sure to log in on Office 365 with your CUNYFirst credentials then click the link. Your CUNYFirst username must end with @login.cuny.edu

3. Submit the $400 Application Fee**

If you will be mailing this fee, mail it from the post office, not from a blue box.

 

More detailed information is provided in our automatic reply email after filling out our Study Abroad Interest Form.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT DOCUMENTS:

Physician’s Statement: 

Make sure that there is a Doctor’s Stamp on it.

Your doctor can fax this to us: 718-997-5055 (FAX) 

Health Care Proxy: If something were to happen to you, who would you want to make medical decisions on your behalf? 

The witness on the bottom of the page should not be this person. 

Passport: Should be valid until at least 6 months after the end date of your program.

Renew your passport right away if it is expired or will expire!

 

Queens College Long-Term Programs: Semester/Year

 

(The following does not apply to the CUNY-Paris Exchange, National Student Exchange, CUNY-Italy Exchange, Sorrento Semester Program, and NON-QC Programs) 

 

-After researching your program of interest, do the following. 

-You can only apply to one program (you can list your 2nd and 3rd choices).

NOTE: Program availability depends on exchange balances.  Programs are first-come, first-served, and some programs have a limited number of spots.

DETAILED STEPS

STEP 1: Primary Interest Form

-To express an interest in one of our Queens College Semester Programs:

Fill out our Primary Interest Google Form.

 

STEP 2: Confirmation of Interest Form

The week after the Primary Interest Form Deadline, a Confirmation of Interest Google Form is sent to those who filled out the Primary Interest Google Form.

 

Fill out this form by the deadline, or your will not be considered for our programs.

 

STEP 3: Queens College Commitment Paperwork

-You will be emailed a PDF with Commitment Paperwork; it is basically an application with basic information.

-Gather the necessary documents and then email your completed paperwork back to us by the deadline.

 

STEP 4: Interview

Every student participating in a Queens College Semester Program will be interviewed by Blanche.

 

STEP 5: Nomination to Host University

We will nominate your to your program of interest.  Once our partner university confirms your nomination, you will receive an email with “Next Steps.”

STEP 6: Host Campus Application

-Each of our partner universities have their own application processes.  You will be emailed information about this.

-Submit this application by our Queens College deadline (which is earlier than our partner’s deadline)

STEP 7: Visa Process

-After you are officially accepted to your semester program, you will be emailed information regarding the visa process for that country

-Follow all of the steps carefully and apply for a visa ASAP

OTHER CUNY STUDENTS: ePermit Process

-If you are a student at another CUNY campus who is participating in one of our Queens College Exchange Programs, you will have to apply for an ePermit so that your study abroad classes and credits will be transferred back to your home college.

-You must inform your home campus that you will be participating in a Queens College Program ASAP, as they have paperwork that you must fill out with them.

National Student Exchange (NSE)

Students with in interest in participating in the National Student Exchange should first explore the NSE Website and become familiar with the schools and courses offered. Once you have done so, you may come to the Study Abroad Office and speak with the NSE Coordinator, who will explain how the Queens College Application works.

Please be sure to do your research ahead of time.

After speaking with Joan, do the following:

1. Fill out our Primary Interest Google Form

2. Confirmation of Interest Google Form

4. Queens College Commitment Paperwork

5. Visa Process (Joan will email you about this)

NON-QC Programs: Other CUNY, SUNY, etc. (Winter/Summer/Semester/Year)
 Research your program of interest.

 

Then:

STEP 1: Apply to your NON-QC Program of Interest

Follow your program’s application steps to apply directly to that program.

 

STEP 2a: NON-QC Program Application Form

After applying to your program of interest, complete our NON-QC Program Application Form (at the bottom of this page) so that we have your information.

 

STEP 2b: If applying to another CUNY Program:

    Apply for an ePermit on CUNYFirst (this is what will allow your credits to transfer from the other CUNY school to Queens College)

–>  Instructions here (but put Queens College as your home college, not your host college)

STEP 3: Submit the following documents to us:

Email the following to studyabroad@qc.cuny.edu:

-Acceptance Letter

Course Approval Form: This form is needed to ensure that your classes and credits from abroad will transfer over. You can find it here (see here for more info.)

-Color Copy of Passport

International Insurance: Provide us with your travel dates so that we can purchase this mandatory CUNY international insurance for you.  Even if you already have other insurance, this one is MANDATORY.

-Flight Itinerary

STEP 4: Visa Process

Semester/Yearlong NON-QC Programs Only (unless you are not a US citizen): Work on obtaining a student visa.

Some countries, such as Australia, require a visa for Summer/Winter Programs too.  Do you research and make sure to find out if your country requires a visa.
