All members have been appointed by the Institutional Official (IO.) The Committee’s responsibilities include the approval of all protocols before any research activities or animal purchasing occur and to certify that all individuals involved in research have received appropriate training both on-site and online (CITI Training.) The IACUC is also responsible for the inspection of the animal facilities including all laboratories where animals are used.

The IACUC meets once a month to review all research or educational use of animals at the College. See the IACUC meeting dates for further details.
**Please Note ** No research-related activity involving animals should begin without the written approval of the IACUC.
- Submit an IACUC General Application form to the IACUC through the Office for Regulatory Compliance electronically (detailed instructions can be found on the form.) In addition each investigator and their key personnel must complete the CITI Animal Subject Training and certification must be submitted to the IACUC with the application form.
- The IACUC Administrator will inform you if revisions are necessary, directions will be provided. Please note that every effort is made to move this process along. However, the speed of completion is dependent upon your speed of response to revisions.
- The Committee will then review it at a scheduled meeting. You will be informed of the IACUC’s meeting date and time. You are encouraged to be available to answer any questions the committee may have during the meeting. If minor revisions are needed, your proposal will be approved awaiting your revisions. If substantive revisions are needed, your proposal will need to be revised and resubmitted for review at the IACUC’s next meeting.
