ISS Virtual Office – CPT
Online Request for CPT for F-1 Students
Carefully read the instructions listed below, then use the button at the bottom of this page to start your request for CPT.
Overview & Eligibility
To be eligible for CPT, you must have been enrolled in school full-time for at least one full academic year (two semesters).
In addition, students on authorized CPT must maintain full-time course registration for the Fall and Spring semesters.
Also, to be eligible for CPT, you must be registered in an internship course as part of your full-time course registration.
If an internship is not required by the degree program but is recommended for the student, then enrollment in a 1-course credit reflecting the CPT placement can satisfy the eligibility criteria. You must look in your academic department first.
If you cannot find an internship, you can contact your academic advisor for guidance and assistance.

Email your CPT application to iss@qc.cuny.edu and include the following:

The form has two sections the first section must be completed by the student. The second section must be completed and signed by the department advisor or authorized officer.

Instructions for Internship class enrollment
For internship class enrollment, you must go to CUNYfirst to search for an internship class and speak with the department advisor to discuss enrollment requirements and permissions to take the course. After getting approval, you must ask the advisor to complete the Department Advisor Section for the CPT Form and make sure that the class information is included.
For the Career Development internship class, you must contact Career Engagement and Internship Office and speak with one of their advisors to review the class availability and requirements. Here is the website https://www.qc.cuny.edu/academics/cei/
