Social Security Letter Request

First-time students without a Social Security Number:

  • Have a copy of the employer letter ready to upload to the form.
  • Read our Social Security Number (SSN) page for instructions on applying for a Social Security Number.

Note: After you complete the steps above, ISS office will send you an email with your Employment Verification for your employer and a date for you to pick up the social security letter and your I-20.

To be eligible for a Social Security Number:

    1. You must hold a valid F-1 Visa/Immigration Status.
    2. You must be enrolled at Queens College full-time.
    3. You must be in good academic standing and not be working illegally.
    4. You must have a job offer or an employer letter.

Renew Work Authorization  [Same Job]:

If you continue the same job in the same department, you will not be required to upload an offer letter when completing the forms.

 

Renew Work Authorization  [Different Job]:

If you change jobs on campus, you will need to upload the offer letter from your the employer.
