NYSED REQUIRED WORKSHOPS
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, all of our workshops are now offered in an instructor-led, online-only format. Schedules are subject to change in accordance with evolving NYSED requirements. You will be emailed login and password information 24-48 business hours prior to the workshop date. The data will be uploaded to your TEACH account within 21 business days of workshop date. You need complete each of these workshops only once; they do not expire. Below are the requirements for taking these online workshops. You must log in with video on, as this is how attendance will be taken. It is recommended that you log into class using a computer (laptop or desktop is fine); if you use a mobile device, you will not be able to share your screen and the instructor will not be able to answer your questions. Students MUST have access to:​​

  • Broadband internet
  • A computer operating on Windows 10 or Mac OS (Sierra or later)
  • A microphone and webcam

DASA (Dignity for All Students Act) Workshop

This six-hour course fulfills the harassment, bullying, cyber-bullying and discrimination prevention and intervention training required for certification and licensure under the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). The workshop addresses the social patterns of harassment, bullying and discrimination. The course also provides an understanding of how school climate and culture affect student achievement and behavior. Participants will leave with concrete ideas that they can implement in their work environment. Interactive strategies, discussion and media will be used to meet the certification requirements. Note: Late students will not be admitted (per NYS requirement).

Child Abuse Identification and Reporting Workshop
This workshop fulfills the New York State requirement for chiropractors, dental hygienists, dentists, optometrists, physicians, podiatrists, psychologists, pupil personnel services professionals, registered nurses, school administrators and supervisors, school district administrators, and teachers who are applying for or renewing a license, registration, certificate, or limited permit. Course covers physical and behavioral indicators of maltreatment, physical, or sexual abuse; behavioral and environmental characteristics of abusive parents or caretakers; and identification of responsibility for reporting child maltreatment or abuse, and when and how to do it. Graphic slides will be shown. Participants receive the required NYS Certificate of Completion. Note: Late students will not be admitted (per NYS requirement).

School Violence Prevention and Intervention Workshop
New York State law requires applicants for a new or renewed license, registration, certificate, or limited permit to provide documentation of completing the required training in school violence prevention and intervention. This workshop has been approved by the NYS Education Department. Topics include identification of warning signs relating to violence and other troubling behaviors in children; statutes, regulations, and policies relating to a safe, nonviolent school climate; classroom management techniques to promote a nonviolent school climate and enhance learning; intervention techniques to address a school violence situation; and participating in an effective school/community process for students exhibiting violent behavior. Participants receive the required Certificate of Completion. Note: Late students will not be admitted (per NYS requirement).
