CUNY Career Launch

CUNY Career Launch is a seven-week summer program that enables CUNY undergraduate students to explore their future careers by interning in a job related to their major. Students work from early July until mid-August for 19 hours/week and earn $20 per hour.

Queens College leads The Community & Social Services (CSS) Hub which specializes in internship placements within New York City’s mission-driven, community-based nonprofit organizations and government offices.

If you have any questions, please contact us at: css.careerlaunch@qc.cuny.edu or (718) 997-0566.

Student Testimonials

“My coworkers and advisors were the most supportive and welcoming staff. I have never felt more welcomed into a job even with absolutely no experience in the field. They welcomed the interns with open arms and were there to help every step of the way.”

“I felt extreme joy at the fact that I was able to inform members of different communities about programs, services, and opportunities that some individuals were not even aware of and/or did not even know how to apply for.”

“Working in a council member’s office allowed me to directly engage with the local community. I participated in community events and interacted with constituents, gaining a deeper understanding of their needs and concerns.”

Employer Testimonials

“The student came with strong social services skills and being bilingual was a huge advantage for us and the clients the student was assigned to work with. The student was eager to learn how to document casenotes, intake process and by the 2nd week, the student ran her own mental health support group. In additional the student co-facilitated a Culture Hispanic group on a weekly basis.”

“Our intern was very hardworking and regularly sought out additional assignments to work on. She connected well with the students and provided invaluable near peer connections. We would love to have her continue working with our organization.”
