10:00 – 10:45 am  A Discussion of Computer Science Research Directions, Bobby Schnabel, CEO of the Association for Computing Machinery(ACM) will present a view of the current and emerging state of research and graduate education topics in computer science, looked at broadly. This includes the growing importance of considering societal and social issues related to computing along with technical advances in computing. It will present a high-level framework for computing research, and discuss a number of current and emerging research areas in computing. It is intended as an interactive presentation, with audience discussion and input throughout. Presentation

10:45 – 11:00 am  Open Source Opportunities with Mozilla, George Roter, Head of Core Contributors of Mozilla will present some of the most interesting projects they now have underway, and ways that they can collaborate with CUNY. As a non-profit, open source technology organization, Mozilla succeeds through collaborations; with volunteers, with other organizations, and with academia. To this end, they have a robust set of programs to engage with researchers, educators and students on topics ranging from machine learning, to web technologies, to mixed reality. These programs include research grants, co-development projects, a growing student network in the United States, and more.
