Civil Rights Attorney Elizabeth R. OuYang Speaks to A/AC’s Student Council!
Asian/American Center thanks civil righs attorney and community advocate Elizabeth OuYang for speaking to the Student Council on 10/24/2019. Professor OuYang is New York Immigration Coalition’s Census Consultant and Coordinators of New York Counts 2020, a statewide coalition seeking a fair and accurate census count.
Asian American Heritage Celebration 2018
On Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018, the Asian/American Center (A/AC) of Queens College celebrated Asian American Heritage Month with students, faculty and community members. Asian/American Center’s Scholarship recipients and Student Leadership Award recipients for 2018 were announced at this student-focused event. Ms. Eugenia Ames, a dedicated supporter to A/AC’s programs, presented each recipient with a certificate of award. Professor Murphy Halliburton, a long-term member on A/AC’s Faculty Advisory Board, was honored for his insights and commitment to A/AC’s mission as well as his path-breaking research in medical anthropology. Asian American Studies Professor Robert Ku delivered a speech on the topic of Asian American identity followed by a discussion with A/AC’s Student Council.
