The Queens College Immigrant Student Support Initiative recognizes that students, their families, and the local community benefit from having access to robust immigration and legal services, programs, and resources. This webpage outlines various immigration and legal resources available to the immigrant community, including free legal consultations, naturalization applications, family-based petitions, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) renewals, preparation for the citizenship exam, know-your-rights materials, and more!

CUNY Citizenship Now! at Queens College

Service Information

In March 2024, the Immigrant Student Support Initiative expanded its partnership with CUNY Citizenship Now! to open a new full-time CUNY Citizenship Now! Office at Queens College. The new office is located in Room 100 of the Student Union Building, in the first-floor lobby.

CUNY Citizenship Now! offers pro se legal assistance, which means helping immigrants represent themselves. Therefore, CUNY Citizenship Now! does not provide legal representation. CUNY Citizenship Now! provides the immigrant community access to free, high-quality, and confidential legal services. Services take the form of a free legal consultation or help filing paperwork, allowing individuals to learn more about and gain assistance with:

How to Schedule an Appointment – Queens College Community Members

The CUNY Citizenship Now! Office at Queens College is accessible by appointment only. The office does not currently support walk-in services.

Queens College students, staff, faculty, and community members have priority access to the services of CUNY Citizenship Now’s immigration attorneys or legal representatives on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To book a free in-person, confidential immigration consultation with the CUNY Citizenship Now! office at Queens College, please call (646) 654-9400. You can also submit a request to receive a call directly here. In both cases, please specify having the appointment in the Queens College office. 

Individuals may schedule appointments up to one month in advance. If Queens College community members have any questions or difficulties scheduling an appointment, please do not hesitate to contact our office for support.

Non-Queens College community members or individuals who do not live close to Queens College are encouraged to seek support and services from CUNY Citizenship Now!’s many locations across all five boroughs. The Citizenship Project

The New York Historical Society & CUNY Citizenship Now partnered to create the Citizenship Project. The Citizenship Project offers FREE classes online and in-person, both in English & Spanish, for permanent residents to prepare for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) naturalization exam. The six-week interactive program covers all 100 questions and includes preparation for the naturalization interview. To enroll in a class, please click the buttons below!

Individuals interested in learning more about becoming a United States citizen can click here for more information. Individuals interested in independently studying for the USCIS Civics Test can review the Citizenship Project’s study materials by visiting their website.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) offers valuable resources for immigrants and their advocates. It aims to educate individuals on their rights in the United States regardless of their immigration status. Current Queens College students may schedule in-person or virtual appointments with the Immigrant Student Support Initiative by logging into Navigate. The Navigate login page is available here. After logging into Navigate, students must select “Student Affairs” as the care unit. The tag “Immigrant Support” is on our available services.
