Master of Science in Education in Mathematics (7-12)

Students enrolling in Master of Science in Secondary Education programs will be assigned an advisor in the area of certification who will meet with and review the student’s background. Together, they will plan an appropriate program of graduate courses. This approved program is to be filed with the department during the first semester of attendance. The student may not depart from this approved program without permission of the advisor. Each academic area has its own course requirements. In general, students take about half of their program in the appropriate academic departments and half in education.

Apply at no cost by June 30, 2025 to any of our Graduate Math Education Programs. These programs lead to teacher certification in an area of high need in New York City public schools. CUNY is encouraging applications to these programs by sponsoring the $75 fee for applications received before June 30, 2025. Please contact grad@qc.cuny.edu with any questions.

Requirements for Matriculation

These requirements are in addition to the general requirements for matriculation.

  1. The Master of Science in Education (MSED) Program is for students who already hold an initial certificate in a teaching discipline and who wish to pursue advanced studies in education. Graduates from this program gain an advanced certification and a MSED degree

Students are to follow the college’s requirements for non-matriculation​.
