Queens College (QC) and Farmingdale State College (FSC) Present Introductory Cannabis Industry Workshop on Saturday, June 11 and Saturday, June 18, 2022

 –Workshop Covers New York State’s Emerging Cannabis Sector and the Skills Needed to Start or Work in a Cannabis Business; Participants Will Be Introduced to the FSC Cannabis Production and Management Certificate Program–

WHAT: An introductory non-credit bearing workshop, “Get Started in the Cannabis Industry,” designed for members of the public who would like to learn more about opening, managing, or working in a cannabis business in New York State. Presented in a partnership between Queens College and Farmingdale State College, the two-part course is designed to provide an introductory understanding of the cannabis industry in New York State.

Participants will gain insight into the cannabis industry through presentations by distinguished faculty and will have the opportunity to meet with leaders in the cannabis community, as well as successful entrepreneurs. They will also learn about the FSC Cannabis Production and Management Certificate Program and will earn a combined QC and FSC cannabis micro-credential digital badge at the end of the course. Space is limited to 25 participants. The registration fee is $25.

Course topics will include an introduction to the U.S. cannabis industry; the role that medical marijuana played in industry development; the legal environment for the cannabis industry in NYS; management and marketing of a cannabis business; economics of cannabis; cannabis plant science and production; and how to enter and advance in the cannabis industry.

A representative from the New York State Office of Cannabis Management will provide an update on NYS’s regulations and policies.
Queens College President Frank H. Wu will visit with workshop participants on June 11 at 3:30 pm; Farmingdale State College President John S. Nader will visit with workshop participants on June 11 at 9:30 am.
