Vivek Upadhyay Appointed Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management at Queens College

Flushing, NY, September 2, 2025—Vivek Upadhyay has been appointed assistant vice president of Enrollment Management at Queens College. He most recently served as a consultant directing Technology Integration for VI Solutions, where he led strategic technology initiatives to align IT systems with organizational goals and drive pedagogical innovation across academic institutions. Prior to that, he held the position of university chief academic technology officer at the City University of New York (CUNY). Upadhyay, an alumnus, resides in Queens.

Reporting to the vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Upadhyay will be responsible for leading and advancing enrollment priorities to achieve enrollment and student success goals. He will assist the vice president in planning, implementing, and evaluating enrollment objectives and retention programs and services managed by the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and recommending the development and implementation of new programs and services in support of the college’s strategic plan. As assistant vice president, Upadhyay will also assist with the resolution of student concerns and facilitate for students a better understanding their learning environment. He will lead and guide both the strategic direction and daily operations of Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, College Now, Early College Initiatives (ECI), SEEK, Enrollment Communications and Operations, Registrar, and Financial Aid.

Upadhyay has over two decades of service in higher education technology and enrollment management. As university chief academic technology officer at CUNY, he led comprehensive academic technology strategy across all the university’s campuses, overseeing a $40 million portfolio and managing enterprise learning platforms, including D2L Brightspace, DegreeWorks, Schedule Builder, Coursedog, EAB Navigate, SLATE, and CUNYfirst. He has also served as university executive registrar at CUNY, providing leadership for academic systems and enrollment processes serving over 500,000 students. His earlier CUNY roles include university director of Enrollment Operations, university director of Student Records, and deputy University Registrar. He also served as change management associate in CUNY’s Office of Computing Services, leading training and migration initiatives for the CUNYfirst implementation.
Upadhyay has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science at Queens College since 2000, including Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Software Engineering, and Data Structures. He holds a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Queens College.
