Our Mission

The Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) supports the evidence-based decision-making of administrators, faculty, and program directors, with the overall goal of improving institutional quality. Guided by the college’s mission for excellence in teaching and learning, a commitment to student success, and a desire to enhance the overall student experience, the OIE provides access to high quality and trustworthy data to inform student success initiatives, program development and evaluation, grants, public relations, and strategic planning, and to help meet compliance reporting requirements. Through collaboration with academic and administrative departments across the college, the OIE aims to support a culture of inquiry, evidence, and innovation at Queens College.

Our integrated institutional research and assessment responsibilities include:

  • Collecting, organizing, and analyzing data for applied research and program evaluation projects;
  • Analyzing and presenting institutional data for decision-support;
  • Identifying metrics and presenting data to gauge progress on strategic plan goals and objectives;
  • Providing data and data dashboards to support assessment activities across the college;
  • Analyzing and presenting institutional data to support operational and administrative functions;
  • Conducting survey research to assess progress on college-wide goals, including strategic plan objectives;
  • Providing survey expertise and assistance for assessment activities;
  • Preparing and administering the college’s course evaluation process;
  • Preparing data sets drawn from institutional data to support research conducted by faculty and administrators;
  • Preparing data to meet compliance-reporting requirements of federal, national, regional, and state agencies (e.g., IPEDS, Middle States, etc.);
  • Organizing evidence that the college continues to meet the accreditation standards of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE);
