Anthropology Major

BA in Anthropology prepares students for many exciting careers in international development, cultural resource management, the legislative branch, forensic and physical anthropology, natural resource management, market research, education, public health, and many more.

Advanced Accounting

BBA in Accounting – Advanced Accounting Track: This program targets students interested in becoming licensed Certified Public Accountants and pursuing careers in public accounting or senior financial roles in industry, government, or not-for-profit entities. The Advanced Accounting Track meets the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam in New York State. This program has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.5 for courses in this track and a total of 63 credits.

Business Accounting

BBA in Accounting – Business Accounting Track: This program prepares students for careers in financial accounting, managerial accounting, and accounting operations. This program has a minimum GPA requirement of 2.0 for courses in this track and a total of 40 credits.

M.S. in Accounting

QC Master of Science in Accounting is registered with the NYS Department of Education and approved to meet the 150-credit CPA licensing requirements. The program prepares students for careers in public accounting firms, corporations, government agencies, consulting firms, compliance roles, and teaching at higher education institutions.

 

M.S. in Taxation

The Master of Science in Taxation leads to many possible career paths for both students starting their career in taxation and those repositioning to new opportunities. The program is designed to enhance practical and research skills and problem-solving abilities. It also focuses on teaching finely honed technical skills that allow students to stay on top of the ever-changing field.

 

History Major

B.A. in History provides the background needed for graduate work in law, journalism, library science, and history doctoral programs. It is a great major for those planning on teaching social studies on the secondary level, as well as being an excellent major for those co-majoring in elementary education. History graduates are well-prepared for roles in museums and archives, the federal government, or in the civil service.

 

M.A. in History

M.A. in History can meet a variety of intellectual and professional needs—as preparation for doctoral study, as the academic requirement for permanent New York State teacher certification, and as an opportunity for students to augment their current job credentials and enrich their intellectual life. The department’s graduate faculty have outstanding records of publication in many areas.

 

Economics Major

The BA in Economics trains students to understand market dynamics and government regulations to develop successful business and policy strategies.

 

Quantitative Economics Major

B.S. in Quantitative Economics provides training in state of the art quantitative methods to conduct rigorous analysis in all areas of economics and business. This major is great for students seeking to acquire quantitative skills to apply in economic and business analysis.

 

Finance Major

The BBA in Finance provides the skills needed to succeed in today’s modern and highly competitive financial world. With two concentrations, Corporate Finance and FinTech, it is aimed at students seeking financial decision-making tools to stay abreast of market developments.

 

International Business Major

The BBA in International Business guides students to develop a cultural competency  in order to pursue careers facilitating global trade and operations, such as international trade specialists, global logistics managers, import/export compliance specialists, foreign service officers, and international business consultants, or they can work in managerial roles within multinational corporations overseeing various aspects of their worldwide operations.

 

M.S. in Risk Management

M.S. in Risk Management: Risk management is not just about insurance and derivatives—it’s a field that is increasingly vital for any business that hopes to control exposure and make strategic decisions about what risks to assume. At Queens College, our job placement rate is exemplary, with virtually all our graduates working in risk management or related fields.

 

M.A. in Urban Affairs

M.A. in Urban Affairs provides an interdisciplinary approach to the study of cities, especially New York City. We prepare students for professional work in urban administration, organization and policy in the public and nonprofit sectors. Our students are well prepared for advancement in government agencies or non profit and community organizations.

Urban Studies Major

B.A. in Urban Studies provides a critical understanding of the issues facing our cities, especially New York City, learn how to do urban-related research and perform urban policy analysis, and develop valuable skills including writing a policy brief, making an interesting oral presentation, and writing a paper that is full of critical insights. These skills will be useful to you in your future career and as an urban citizen.

Labor Studies Major

The B.A. in Labor Studies provides students with a curriculum that focuses on the world of work. The purpose of the program is to give students a rigorous framework for the analysis of the labor force, workers’ organizational affiliations, and the dynamics of labor-management relations. 

Actuarial Studies Major

The BBA in Actuarial Studies prepares students for a career path in the insurance industry, as well as preparing them for a series of actuarial examinations.

M.L.S./M.A. Dual Degree in History

M.L.S./M.A. Dual Degree in History and Library Science = MA in History + MLS in Information Science (54 credits + capstone project)
Concentrations in archives, preservation, and public history. The joint degree offers students the opportunity to develop skills in the methods of both library science–including archival management–and historical research. Graduates pursue professional careers in academic libraries, museums, oral history, document conservation, and public or private archives, and for admission into PhD programs in either History or Library Science.

Master of Library Science

The program of courses leading to the Master of Library Science degree consists of 36 credits completed with an overall average of at least B (3.0 index). The M.L.S. degree is offered in two programs: School Media Specialist (Library) (program code 604) and General (program code 602).
